Wamego/Rock Creek High School Program

The Wamego/Rock Creek High School program is made up of two Northeast Kansas School districts. The class is held at Wamego High School as Rock Creek High School students drive over for class. In the five years of existence, the class has shown very strong support from area contractors and suppliers, as well as support from the local community. In fact, the community of Wamego came to the class in the Spring of 2006 to see if students could excavate, survey and pour the foundation of the site of the future Chrysler House/Pottawatamie County Visitors Center being built at the intersection of Highway 99 and Highway 24.

During the 2005-2006 school year, students built a two-story press box and concession stand for the Susan B. Anthony Middle School booster club in Manhattan. This project was the largest the class has taken on, building four 8'x10' structures which were moved in the summer of 2006.

The first of four pieces of the press
box/concession stand is lifted by crane and
placed onto a flatbed for transportation from Wamego to Manhattan.

Pictured is the project, near completion. A small concrete pour and light interior work is all that remains.
